Customer Reviews about Nolan Sean MD

  • Doctor Nolan is one of the most compassionate, easy going and all around best Endocrinologists in the area and state. As far as his staff goes his PA is very nice but the receptionist(s) are extremely rude. Therefore, everyone is fantastic other then receptionist(s). I would recommend anyone to setup an appointment with him if you have Hypo, Hyper, Hashimoto or any Thyroid Disorder/Disease; however, Doctor Nolan is getting ready to retire and his PA is awesome but I would recommend another Endocrinologist simply because the way the receptionist(s) treated me and this was not the only time I was treated this way by the reception department (two different people). If you look at Healthgrades you will see others that have posted about his staff (receptionists) being rude. I had not seen doctor Nolan in a while because we did not have insurance and moved out of state so my family doctor is prescribing my Thyroid Medication and I had to pay cash up front to my family doctor for refills until I got insurance back to see Dr. Nolan. But, when I called to schedule an appointment and told the receptionist my family doctor sent in a full panel for Doctor Nolan to look at she (not going to mention names) said that they no longer accept my insurance which is the same insurance that they took before when I had talked to him roughly a year ago .At that time they did not take it either but Doctor Nolan was nice enough to have the insurance covered back then and overruled the receptionist(s). But, what this receptionist failed to let Doctor Nolan know was she was the one whom was extremely rude to me that is why I am writing this review. When I explained to her that they did not take my insurance when I first starting seeing Doctor Nolan and that he had it approved I asked if I could speak to him directly. She specifically said that he would not be able to change the decision so there was no point in calling him. So, I asked what should I do. I said in a non invasive tone should I find another doctor or speak to him and she reaerated that he would not over rule this decision and told me to go and find another doctor. It is extremely frustrating when you find a doctor that is absolutely amazing and truly cares about the wellbeing of his patients but you cannot get through the gate keeper. Since he is retiring, again, if looking for another doctor I would go elsewhere just because of the staff but if he was not retiring I would say go to him because it is well worth dealing with them to see him. Again, I was never rude to the receptionist over the phone I think because I am on Medicaid (because Dr. Nolan wrote out a later stating I should not drive or work) she treated me different since none of his other patients have government insurance. I do not have any way of proving this; however, I just know I felt like she was very rude and showed no sympathy at all and do not want others to go through the same thing that is why I am writing this review. Maybe, she was just having a bad day and if so I am truly sorry but when you are handling patients with disorders and symptoms that can trigger a body to feel worse then maybe the job is not for someone like that. Keep in mind, my husband is a disabled Veteran as well so we deal with a lot of stress which is not good when you have a thyroid disorder. With that being said, before saying that I was rude to you it might be wise to state that you were the one with the attitude and I only posted this so others could read this and make their own decision based on my experience. I hope I was helpful and if you are a patient I hope you are not treated this way by the receptionist and also speak up if you are because nothing will change if you keep quite. I wish Doctor Nolan nothing but the best upon his retirement because he truly deserves to relax, kick back and take it easy. Good luck Doc and thank you for everything you did for me. You are by far the best!
